‘Shocked and saddened’ – Former Millwall boss Jackett pays tribute to John Berylson
Kenny Jackett has paid his respects to John Berylson after it was announced yesterday that the Millwall owner had passed away.
The club confirmed that Berylson, 70, lost his life in a “tragic accident”.
Jackett worked with Berylson for five-and-a-half years during his time as boss of the Lions.
The American businessman admitted he did not want to accept Jackett’s resignation when he left The Den in 2013.

Jackett guided Millwall back to the Championship after beating Swindon in the League One play-off final at Wembley in the 2009-10 campaign.
He also took the club to an FA Cup semi-final in the 2012-13 season, where they lost to eventual winners Wigan Athletic.
“I’m shocked and saddened to hear the news of John’s passing,” Jackett told the South London Press.
“He was a great chairman and an even better friend to my family and myself.
“What he achieved at Millwall has been incredible. I’ll always have the image of him smoking the cigar at Wembley after the play-off win.
“Rest in peace. He will be sadly missed.”
