Shrewsbury Town v Charlton Athletic team news: Addicks finally able to name centre-backs in side as Lee Bowyer makes five changes
BY LOUIS MENDEZ
Jason Pearce and Akin Famewo return to the heart of Charlton’s defence as Lee Bowyer makes a total of five changes for today’s trip to Shrewsbury Town.
Jake Forster-Caskey makes his return from injury to start at the New Meadow, with Chuks Aneke and Ian Maatsen also in from the off.
The Addicks are able to name two recognised centre-backs in the same side for the first time since the 2-0 home win over Oxford back in late October as Famewo and Pearce both return from knocks.
This means that Chris Gunter is able to revert to right-back and Darren Pratley into midfield, with Adam Matthews dropping to the bench.
Maatsen has now served his one-game ban for picking up five yellow cards and replaces Ben Purrington at left-back.
Forster-Caskey is in for Morgan in midfield, with Aneke a straight swap for Omar Bogle up top.
Marcus Maddison misses out completely due to illness, as does Andrew Shinnie after picking up a thigh problem. Albie Morgan drops to the bench.
Charlton: Amos, Maatsen, Famewo, Pearce, Gunter, Watson, Pratley, Forster-Caskey, Gilbey, Aneke, Washington. Subs: Maynard-Brewer, Purrington, Williams, Matthews, Bogle, Morgan, Henry.
