‘So many threats’ – Oxford boss Manning previews Charlton clash

Oxford United boss Liam Manning is expecting a tough outing against Charlton Athletic tomorrow.

Dean Holden’s Addicks have only picked up one win – a 1-0 victory over newly promoted Leyton Orient – from their four League One clashes this season.

Oxford sit fourth in the third division but suffered an opening-day defeat to Cambridge United.

Charlton picked up just a point from their two games against Oxford last season, with the U’s winning 3-1 at the Kassam.

He told Oxford United’s iFollow: “It will be a tough game on Saturday.

“Charlton are a big club with a big history. They also had a busy summer and turned a lot of players around but they carry so many threats.

“We don’t look into their results so far too much, it’s more about what threats they carry and how we deal with them. But the more important thing is us and the progress we have made.

“There are still things we can improve on and we go into the weekend looking to keep progressing as well as picking up another three points.”
