South London boxers Caroline Dubois and Isaac Chamberlain both victorious on York Hall show
Caroline Dubois extended her unbeaten record to seven bouts but was forced to go the distance last night against Yanina del Carmen Lescano at Bethnal Green’s York Hall.
The Greenwich fighter, who is targeting world honours in the lightweight division, won 80-71 on referee Sean McAvoy’s scorecard.
Lescano was also down from a right to the head in the fifth round.
It is only the second time that Dubois has not forced a stoppage.
“The stoppage didn’t come but I said I was looking for a beatdown victory, a solid victory, and I think I got that,” said the South Londoner. “It was ridiculously hot in there. I was boiling over in the changing room and they had to get a wet towel on me.
“I would give myself a six (for the performance). I know I can be better than that. I was a bit scrappy and getting drawn into her fight. That’s all part of the learning. She is a very tough girl.”
Vauxhall cruiserweight Isaac Chamberlain (15-2) won 78-74 against Dylan Bregeon (13-3-1) on the same show.
It ended 11 months out of the ring for Chamberlain, who had previously lost a unanimous decision to Chris Billam-Smith, now WBO world champion, for the British and Commonwealth belts.
