South London duo set for Saturday bouts

Deptford cruiserweight Ibz Mercan returns to the ring at the Tolworth Recreation Centre on June 10th against Nathan Lee.

Mercan is unbeaten in three contests and is coming off a career best win last month against Liverpool dangerman Brad Davies.

Mercan’s manager Mickey Helliet, who has high hopes for his prospect, said: “Ibz was involved in an absolute barnstormer last time out.

“We don’t want too many of those types of fights but it was a great learning experience and will stand Ibz in good stead as he closes in on the southern area title.”

Gabriel Marsh is scheduled to fight on Dean Whyte’s blockbuster show at Tolworth Leisure Centre on June 10th where he takes on Liam Griffiths.

The 28-year-old, who works as a boxing and fitness coach at New Cross’ Double Jab Boxing Club, has made a perfect start having won both of his previous starts as a pro.

Marsh: “I have found the professional code frustrating at times as the Covid backlash impacted on the number of opportunities to box but now things are starting to take off and

I’ve enjoyed every moment of my career to date.

“I’ve been sparring some very good fighters and I can really see the improvements I’m making under my coach Michael Burke. I’m really looking forward to getting back in there and putting what I’ve learned into practice.”

Tickets for the show are available on 0707948 722 747
