South London Schools win hat-trick of competitions
BY STEPHEN UNDERWOOD
This season has been a successful one for the South London District Schools teams. For the first time in many years they have won three Inner London Schools FA competitions.
The girls’ primary team kicked things off.
Their first success was to reach the South East England Cup final where they lost 4-1 against Orpington and Bromley, who had just won the national title by defeating Liverpool 4-1, at Maidstone United’s ground.
Despite losing this match South London had another chance of winning a competition and manager Benjie Ackim was confident they would turn things around.
Lexie Curtis scored an injury-time goal as the South London girls beat Hackney in the Inner London John Larter Cup to become county champions.
Their squad for the season was Na’ima Awebtemi Akansukum, Leila Morgan, Erin Lavender, Sarah Fleming, Amber Malcolm, Nancy Frost, Dorothy Wallis, Ivy Woodley, Lexis Curtis, Eva Butler, Maeve Fitzgerald, Munaya Bosse, Aria Veneri-Thomas, Soraya Adusei, Mabel Barker, Evie South, Nana Aba Osei-Yeboah, Amira Durrant and Nina Bouza.
The second success was in the U15s final of the Inner London County Cup.
Shuhal Ahmed’s team, who had won both the SE England and London Cup competitions, beat Islington and Camden 4-1 at Fisher Athletic’s St Paul’s Sports Ground.
Their goalscorers were Oliver Whitby, Joshua Gody, Toto Salaam and Heath Cole.

South London’s U12 team made it a hat-trick when they won the Inner London final on July 16.
They finished top of their league, winning every match, and thrashed Hackney 9-1 in their play-off semi-final.
Managers Vance McIntosh and Nicky Gayle Gordon then watched their side demolish Greenwich 10-0 in the final.
Their goalscorers were Jamar Lee (four), Udul Seidu (three), Joshua Sesay (two) and Kyle Grant.

Their team was Jamar Lee, Hal Berrington, William Moyseowicz, Harry Middleton, Jordan Okusanya, Mohammed Mitchell, Sonny Cald, Mahdi Nicoll, Kunti Gnoan, Abraham Bunda, Kyle Grant, Udul Seidu, Jayden Yeboah, Jordon Yeboah, Kamil Marshal, Joshua Sesay.
