South London trio all set to feature on 02 boxing show on June 23

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Frank Warren’s 02 Arena show on June 23 is set to still go ahead despite the main event falling through – and that is good news for Darryll Williams, Johnny Garton and Daniel Dubois.

The three South Londoners are scheduled to be in action on the Greenwich bill.

WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders has pulled out of his defence against Martin Murray, citing an injury.

Unbeaten Williams is set to defend his English super-middleweight title against Lennox Clarke. The unbeaten Forest Hill man (16-0) had announced his retirement in November but is now back in the gym.

Greenwich powerhouse Dubois (7-0) will look for an eighth straight knockout when he boxes for the vacant English heavyweight belt against Tom Little (10-5).

Little has described Dubois as a “baby Frank Bruno” who he will have too many ring skills for.

“I look at myself as my own man – a special fighter,” said Dubois. “Whatever he says is irrelevant. He’s bringing a challenge and I’m not overlooking him at all. I’ll be ready.”

Peckham’s Garton (21-1-1) recently signed a promotional deal with Warren.

He boxed only twice in 2017 and last had a ring outing in December, halting Mihail Orlov to win the vacant IBF European welterweight title.
