Stevenage loan move for Charlton Athletic midfielder Alex Gilbey
Charlton Athletic midfielder Alex Gilbey has joined Stevenage on loan.
The Addicks are understood to have a recall option in the January transfer window for the 27-year-old, who has scored six goals in 66 appearances for them.
Gilbey had also attracted the interest of Lincoln City in recent weeks but was keen to stay closer to his family.
Both Stevenage and Burton Albion had made contact over the former Milton Keynes player, whose only first-team outing in the current campaign came in the EFL Cup first round victory over QPR.
Charlton manager Ben Garner has been happy for Gilbey to move on.
He had been a regular under Garner’s predecessor Johnnie Jackson last season, playing 40 matches and claiming three goals.
Gilbey could be one of four outgoings before tonight’s 11pm deadline with Jake Forster-Caskey, Craig MacGillivray and Diallang Jaiyesimi also the subject of interest.
