Stevenage v Charlton Athletic team line-ups: Aneke makes return for Michael Appleton’s first game in charge
Chuks Aneke could be set to play his first minutes of the season after being named in Charlton Athletic’s matchday squad for today’s fixture at Stevenage.
The game is Michael Appleton’s first as head coach.
Aneke has missed the club’s pre-season programme and start to the campaign with a calf problem. But the former Arsenal and MK striker is on the bench.
There is no Alfie May in the matchday 18 with the summer signing from Cheltenham Town ruled out due to concussion.
There is also a debut for Udinese defender James Abankwah, who arrived on a season-long loan on transfer deadline day. He starts at right-back with Nathan Asiimwe ruled out with a minor quad injury.
Former Charlton midfielder Jake Forster-Caskey is a substitute for Stevenage, who are top of League One.
Charlton are bidding for back-to-back league wins for the first time since March.
