Sunderland loanee set for AFC Wimbledon stay

Sunderland loanee Alex Bass is set to see out the season at AFC Wimbledon.

The South London Press understands there are currently no plans for the former Bradford City and Portsmouth keeper to head back to the Stadium of Light.

The 25-year-old has established himself as Johnnie Jackson’s number one since arriving on loan from the Championship side.

Bass has started 28 times – playing in every minute of the League Two campaign so far – and kept 10 clean sheets in all competitions this season.

The keeper has only conceded 31 times this season.

Stockport County are also mulling over a decision to recall centre-back Joe Lewis, who is currently on a season-long loan from the League Two table toppers.

Lewis, 24, has formed a partnership at the back with Ryan Johnson and featured 23 times in League Two this season under Johnnie Jackson.

Wimbledon take on Ipswich in the FA Cup tomorrow at Plough Lane.
