Sunderland v Charlton Athletic team news: Addicks unchanged – Chuks Aneke misses out through injury

BY LOUIS MENDEZ

Charlton are unchanged for the trip to Sunderland this afternoon – but Chuks Aneke did not make the journey to Wearside.

Addicks boss Nigel Adkins chooses to stick with the same eleven that ran out 1-0 victors at Doncaster Rovers on Good Friday as they face a Black Cats side who are unbeaten in 12 and pushing for the top two.

Charlton haven’t tasted defeat themselves in seven outings and are looking to protect an unbeaten away record that stretches back to mid-January in order to keep pace with League One’s top six.

Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen is expected to be played further up the pitch after the success he had at the Keepmoat Stadium eight days ago – bagging his first goal in senior football.

Top scorer Aneke misses out after picking up a groin problem at Doncaster – Ronnie Schwartz takes his place on the bench.

Charlton: Amos, Purrington, Pearce, Inniss, Matthews, Pratley, Forster-Caskey, Gilbey, Jaiyesimi, Maatsen, Stockley. Subs: Maynard-Brewer, Gunter, Oshilaja, Shinnie, Watson, Millar, Schwartz.
