‘Superstar money’ – Steve Parish warns Newcastle Marc Guehi will not leave Crystal Palace on the cheap

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has warned Newcastle they will have to pay “superstar money” to prise Marc Guehi away from Selhurst Park.

The Magpies have submitted multiple bids for the England international this summer, with the recent offer of an initial £55million plus £5million in add-ons still under consideration.

Ex-Chelsea defender Guehi has two years left to go on his deal with the South Londoners.

Guehi, 24, starred for Gareth Southgate’s England side at Euro 2024 and has made 111 appearances for Palace since moving on a permanent deal in 2021 from Chelsea.

Parish told Sky Sports News: “Nobody has got to the valuation yet. If you want a superstar player you need to pay superstar money.

“It’s not near the point where we have to make a decision. We love having him and would love to keep him.

“If someone else wants to have him, they need to make it really difficult for us. He’s a generational talent.”
