Swansea boss confirms triple injury blow ahead of Millwall
Swansea City boss Michael Duff has confirmed that Josh Ginnelly, Joe Allen and Nathan Wood are all set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines and have been ruled out of this weekend’s trip to Millwall.
The Swans head to the Den 21st in the Championship table. However, they did pick up their first win of the season under the former Barnsley boss after they beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 last Saturday.
Winger Ginnelly was forced off in the win against Wednesday and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
Former Stoke and Liverpool midfielder Allen has required surgery on his groin.
And defender Wood, 21, needs an ankle operation.
Millwall picked up four points against Swansea last season, winning the home cash at The Den 2-1 and drawing 2-2 at The Swansea.com Stadium.
“It’s been bad news for injuries,” Duff told the club website.
“Woody will need surgery, so he’s out until January. Allen has had surgery on his groin, so he will be a similar time frame.
“Ginnelly will be out for the season. He has ruptured his Achilles. We didn’t think it was good at the time, because of how it happened.
“They’re three big players for us and it’s three long-term injuries. We’ll support them as we will support all of the players.
“It’s disappointing, but there’s an opportunity for other players now.”
