‘Taking care of our business’ – Bromley continue League Two perfect start with win over AFC Wimbledon
Andy Woodman praised his players for their professional start to League Two life after beating South London rivals AFC Wimbledon in the first EFL game at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon.
Michael Cheek put the hosts ahead in the 34th minute when he finished off a counter-attacking move with a well-taken shot from the edge of the box into the bottom left-hand corner.
Bromley doubled their advantage 14 minutes into the start of the second half when Crystal Palace loanee Danny Imray burst forward from his own half, skipped past a handful of Wimbledon players and crossed along the face of goal for Corey Whitely to finish past Owen Goodman.
The Ravens moved to the top of League Two due to the early kick-off and have won both of their opening EFL outings 2-0.
“It sounds easier than it was,” said Woodman.
“We have had to graft in both games and be professional and workmanlike, which we are.
“I’m delighted with the result and the clean sheets, but we’re not getting carried away.
“It’s very early doors. We’re taking care of our business.
“We knew we knew they were going to be strong in the air.
“We knew they were going to put balls in our box.
“You have to make sure in those moments that you have to step up to the plate and they did.
“I’m delighted – delighted for them.”
