Tennis: Catford Wanderers’ mixed first team see off David Lloyd Club Sidcup

Catford Wanderers’ mixed first team got the better of visiting David Lloyd Club Sidcup in their Division 2 North Kent League match.

Catford’s first pair of Will Liney and Stephanie James fought out a thrilling one-set all encounter with James Venables and Kathy Innes 4-6 6-4.

They followed this draw with a comfortable 6-2 6-0 win against Tom Helps and Zoe Hyde.

Wanderers’ second pair of Tom Allen and Julia Garling were good value for a 6-4 6-2 success over Mirko Esposito and Liz Smith and they too shared a one-set all draw against Venables and Innes.

The star duo of the night were Catford’s third pair of Tinashe Sithole and Donna Gabriel, who claimed two great victories.

They opened with a 7-6 6-4 win, defeating Esposito and Smith, and finished the evening with a 7-6 6-4 victory over Helps and Hyde .
