‘The old chocolate box’ – Palace boss Hodgson asked about referee’s performance in Spurs defeat
Roy Hodgson was asked about Darren England’s performance in Crystal Palace’s 1-0 defeat at Spurs on Saturday.
The Eagles suffered their second defeat under the 75-year-old since he returned to the South Londoners thanks to Harry Kane’s header before half-time.
England booked Jeffrey Schlupp, Jordan Ayew, Joel Ward, Wilfried Zaha and Joachim Andersen during the 90 minutes.
“It’s the old chocolate box – you get what you get,” said Hodgson.
“I’m not prepared to come out and make any comments about the referee or suggest with another referee, the results would have been different.
“But, in moments like today, when you have had so much of the ball, so many possibilities, and you felt yourself in with a good chance all the time, when a few free-kicks go against you or get given against you, it adds to the frustration.
“That’s all it was.”
