‘There is pressure – you can’t deny it’ – Millwall’s Zian Flemming on vital penalty kick at Blackpool
Zian Flemming has talked about his high-stakes penalty kick in Millwall’s win at Blackpool on Friday night.
The club record signing converted from the spot to put the Lions ahead in the closing stages – his 15th goal of the season.
And Gary Rowett’s side saw out the rest of the Championship contest to claim a 3-2 victory.
Millwall will be guarantee a play-off spot if they beat Blackburn on Monday.
“Of course you feel pressure, there is pressure – you can’t deny it,” Flemming told Millwall TV after being asked about his spot-kick. “But I managed to manage it. I didn’t feel too nervous, you feel the importance really.
“You just try to approach it as a pen – it’s me and the goalkeeper, I know if I do it well then I score. You try to go back to the training pitch where you practise it, rather than all the consequences of what if? It worked.
“If I could pick one side to score it was that one because then I could celebrate with the fans. It was just madness.
“I’d rather have us to win 3-0, I felt that was possible as well. If we’re being critical we should’ve killed the game earlier, in the first half and me in the second half
