‘They’re streetwise’ – Johnnie Jackson delivers verdict on AFC Wimbledon’s 2-0 defeat at Bromley

Johnnie Jackson highlighted Bromley’s clinical finishing as the difference in their 2-0 win over AFC Wimbledon on Saturday afternoon.

Bromley had four shots on target, with Michael Cheek and Corey Whitely both scoring in each half to continue their perfect start to life in League Two.

Wimbledon had more shots – 10 – and hit the woodwork through James Ball in the first half but drew their first blank of the 2024-25 season.

Jackson said: “It was exactly what I was expecting – we knew they would put it on us and make us defend.

“They’re streetwise in what they’re doing. It was an even game. Small moments have decided it. 

“They took their moments. We had some really good situations we didn’t make the most of. 

“It hasn’t really gone for us today. 

“They were more clinical in their moments than we were.

“I don’t think we were outmuscled. We know they’re a physical side, but we can mix it up and we have legs and energy in ours. 

“They were really good when the ball was turned over. They allowed us to have possession at times today and the first goal comes from a counter-attack. 

“We have allowed the lad to travel too far with the ball for the second goal – we should have put a tackle or a foul in earlier.

“I’m disappointed in those moments, but we had enough possession in their half to get something.”
