This Millwall player has been Mr Consistency under Gary Rowett

Gary Rowett reckons Shaun Hutchinson has been Millwall’s most consistent performer during his managerial tenure in SE16.

The Lions centre-back popped up with an assist in last night’s 2-0 victory over Birmingham City.

Hutchinson has made 171 appearances for Millwall since signing on a free transfer following his release by Fulham.

The Geordie’s low cross was stuck away by Ben Thompson to send the Blues packing.

“It was brilliant the way he stepped up the pitch, a little combination with someone, and he ends up down the side,” said Rowett. “It’s a great ball in. Of the many things Shaun Hutchinson does well, I wouldn’t put crossing as one of them!

“He is a good player. If I had to pick one player as an absolutely consistent performer it is Hutch. He has been absolutely brilliant defensively and showed his versatility and that he has a different side to his game.

“He is so consistent for us. We’re lucky to have him.”
