Thomas Sandgaard: Of course I’d want to keep Charlton Athletic boss Lee Bowyer

Thomas Sandgaard has spelled out that he would want Lee Bowyer to stay if he completes a deal for Charlton Athletic.

Our website broke the news on Thursday that the 62-year-old Dane was looking to complete a takeover of the Championship side.

And Sandgaard says he is a fan of the Addicks boss, who has been forced to work under testing circumstances in SE7.

Charlton are under a transfer embargo which means they can offer just £1,300 per week to any new signings – although they were able to push through deals for Alex Gilbey and Conor Washington last week for more than that.

“I love Lee Bowyer,” Sandgaard told the South London Press. “I’ve seen the clips of him with the crowd and I know how he operates.

“He is a great inspiration. Of course I hope someone like Lee Bowyer stays on board.

“I saw these couple of signings that went through and one thing I picked up is that these two are very high-energy players – that’s what you need to work your way out of League One. They are the right kind of signings.”
