Tim Cahill: Ben Thompson will be one of my best mates at Millwall
Tim Cahill has spoken about instantly hitting it off with Ben Thompson – and reckons they will be best mates during his time at Millwall.
Lions legend Cahill, 38, has signed a deal until the end of the season.
Millwall fan Thompson has already admitted that the Australian international was his favourite player growing up. And footage was posted of the pair meeting earlier this week.
Cahill met the media earlier today and said he would be joining his team-mates for “Thursday Club” – where the players go out for a meal together.
“If Thommo is not going Thursday Club then I’m not going,” said Cahill. “He’ll be one of my best mates here.
“I was that kid when I came here at 16 years old, looking up to older players. Even when Wisey signed here – wow. I was a kid at Everton and Thomas Gravesen left for Real Madrid. New York Red Bulls and playing with Thierry Henry, I was still the kid even though I was older.
“Now me and Thommo are mates and hanging out.”
