Tony Mowbray: We focused on matching Millwall’s strengths and forgot to play

Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray felt his side focused so much on matching Millwall physically that it took away other elements of their game in today’s 2-0 win.
A Shaun Hutchinson own goal and Adam Armstrong’s low strike saw the visitors twice net late to secure all three points.
Mowbray said: “I’m pleased with the points. It is really hard to come away and win in the Championship so any three points are welcome.
“I’m not pleased overall because it was a terrible game of football. I’m glad I didn’t have to watch that.
“You have to prepare when you come to the Den to play Millwall. We had to get the team at an adrenaline level to match what is coming. When a team ultra-competitive you forget to play.
“We had to have an intensity. We talked before the game, you have so much data and Millwall start games high intensity and come at you from the off. We were ready for that confrontation. We ended up nullifying their threats but forgot to play ourselves.”
