Tooting and Mitcham bring in Chris Nurse as assistant coach

Former Guyana international Chris Nurse has been appointed assistant coach at Tooting & Mitcham.
The 33-year-old, born in Hammersmith, played non-league for the likes of Tamworth, Kingstonian and Halesowen Town as well as  well as a stint in the States that took in Carolina Railhawks and Fort Lauderdale Strikers.
Terrors manager Frank Wilson has kept in touch with Nurse since the pair met on a fitness programme run by ex-Bradford winger Jamie Lawrence in Wandsworth.
“We brought him in for a month’s trial to see how he felt and how the lads responded,” explained Wilson. “He joins in the training sessions and is a different voice.
“Paul [Dale] and I do the coaching but Chris was a no-nonsense midfield player and  that rubs off on the players, because he is strict with them. Sometimes when managers and coaches are trying to get discipline in training sessions you don’t always get the same response from everyone. Chris commands respect.”
Tooting signed right-back Tom Jelley from Carshalton and he made his debut in last weekend’s 3-1 FA Trophy defeat at Billericay Town.
Wilson said: “He has got a lot of experience. He has won this league and played in the Conference South.”
