‘Unacceptable’ – QPR boss Warburton slams performance against Peterborough

Mark Warburton slammed QPR’s second-half performance against Peterborough United as “unacceptable”.

The R’s lost 3-1 at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium on Sunday.

Luke Amos had put the west Londoners ahead but a brace from Jonson Clarke-Harris and a goal from Jack Marriott gave the visitors all three points.

Warburton said: “I’m disappointed, frustrated, angry. As a group of players and staff, that was an unacceptable second-half performance.

Luke Amos about to score

“From being in control at 1-0 and having two or three excellent chances to finish the game off, we allowed them to get back in with a really poor goal. I didn’t recognise the team in the second half.

“We had some good chances to score a second goal and we needed a bit more quality in the final third.

Jimmy Dunne battles for the ball

“Goals change games and we should have done more to be out of sight in the first half. We didn’t do it and we paid the price.

“But to lose tackles, to lose headers and to give the ball away cheaply and not really pose a threat, we looked unrecognisable. Everyone has to take blame for that.

Warburton complains about Peterborough time wasting

“There’s a lot of points to play for but those games will go quickly. We’ve got some tough encounters coming up, they’re all tough games, but we have to recognise the importance of doing what we do well.

“But to lose by not doing the basics well is beyond frustrating.”
