‘Unfinished business’ – Ibra Sekajja on Dulwich Hamlet return

BY ALEX McQUARRIE

Ibra Sekajja says he has “unfinished business” at Dulwich Hamlet after his two late goals secured a 4-1 win against Concord Rangers.

The substitute, re-signed this week for his third spell at the South London club, delivered a brace of superb finishes in stoppage time to flip the atmosphere at Champion Hill from anxious to electric.

Hamlet had raced into a two-goal lead before half-time courtesy of Giovanni McGregor and Danny Mills. Concord’s Danny Green pulled one back from the spot with 25 minutes to go.

Former Crystal Palace striker Sekajja said he is working his way back to full fitness and is delighted to play once more in front of the Dulwich faithful.

“I love the fans,” he said. “It’s great to be back. I feel like there’s unfinished business. I left here when the club just missed out on promotion.

“For me, it’s just really about getting back into my stride, getting me back up to where I feel like I’m ready to start games. So far it’s been good. The gaffer told me to come on and make a difference and that’s what I did.

“For my first goal I still wasn’t even fully warm but I had to make my decision early. First touch really set me up and I knew where the keeper was, so I knew I had to get it right in the corner and take my chance.”

“Obviously Greeny put in a great through ball for my second. I knew the keeper was coming up, so I just had to get a little chip on it and over him.”

Hamlet manager Gavin Rose was pleased with both the result and the performance after four league games without a win.

“It was a much-needed result,” he said. “In the first half we played some nice stuff. We scored our goals which sometimes we don’t do when we’re on top.

“Obviously, it’s horrible when you’re losing. We’re happy with the result and the game today.”

Rose also hailed the return of Sekajja and had a word for Jordan Higgs, who was treated in hospital for eight hours after suffering a nasty-looking eye injury in the first half.

“Ibra knows where the goal is and has got great movement,” said the Dulwich boss. “The first goal looks easier than it is.

“It didn’t look good, to be honest with you, taking a blow to his eye. I was a bit disappointed they didn’t kick the ball out.”
