‘Until I get told otherwise…..’ – Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones on state of play before tomorrow’s transfer deadline

Nathan Jones was not prepared to say that Charlton Athletic’s summer transfer window business was done when he conducted his press conference ahead of Saturday’s League One match at Reading.

The Addicks have added Luton Town midfielder Allan Campbell to their squad on a season-long loan earlier this week.

Charlton have made nine signings.

Asked by the South London Press if the Addicks were done for activity before tomorrow’s 11pm deadline, manager Jones said: “Until I get told otherwise we are always looking to strengthen the squad.

“We always want to add quality – whatever it is – whether that is pace, power, technical quality. We want to keep improving the squad.

“There will come a time when we won’t be able to, but up until that moment we will continue to try.

“We’re in a really good place. We’ve had an excellent window. As we said coming into the window – we have to come out of it categorically stronger. We asked people to trust us and we’ve worked tirelessly as a football club to get the right people in.

“The proof will be in the pudding but I’m not sure anyone right now could say they think Charlton have not had a good window. I’m very pleased with where we are but there is always, always opportunities to improve.

“If one shows itself, we will act on that.”
