WBA 0 v Chelsea 3 – Half-Time – Blues in cruise control
Chelsea cruised to a 3-0 half-time lead at the Hawthorns as the champions put the home side to the sword and heaped massive pressure on the home side’s manager Tony Pulis.
Spainish striker Alvaro Morata and Belgium midfielder slotted home on the 17th and 22nd minute – both goals, angled left-footers from eight yards out.
Alonso’s goal on 38 minutes was simplicity itself. A clipped CescFabregas free-kick was met by the unmarked wingback at the far post, who slipped the ball home.
The Blues, while comfortable on the ball, were susceptible to the odd foray by the Baggies on the counter-attack, but whenever challenged, the Chelsea defence, marshalled well by Gary Cahill were equal to the task.
