‘We controlled the game’ – Oliver Glasner pleased with West Ham win as Crystal Palace round off perfect week
Oliver Glasner said his Crystal Palace side were ‘excellent’ in their 2-0 win at West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles took the lead at the start of the second half when Jean-Philippe Mateta was left one-on-one with Maximilian Kilman before shooting from the edge of the box and drilling a low effort beyond Lukasz Fabianski.
Palace were handed a man advantage with 10 minutes left to play when Konstantinos Mavropanos was issued with a second yellow card.
Substitute Eddie Nketiah won Palace a penalty with three minutes of normal time remaining after being brought down by Fabianski as he looked to round the West Ham stopper, with Mateta converting to wrap up all three points for the South Londoners.
Glasner’s side secured their first back-to-back Premier League wins of the season – including booking their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup last Sunday after being Stockport – and moved up to 12th in the table.
“It feels good,” said Glasner.
“It’s the same result [as Leicester], but it’s a massive difference in the performance. Today was an excellent performance.
“We controlled the game and we didn’t give West Ham a clear chance to score. We scored our goals in the right moment.
“When they tried to get the equaliser, we decided the game with the result and the performance.
“At Leicester, I was just pleased with the result.”
