‘We’ve found our targets already’ – Crystal Palace boss Glasner on January transfer window

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has stated the desire to sign two players this month while avoiding speaking directly on any names.

The winter transfer window, while condensed, often comes with the reputation of being of poor value for Premier League clubs, but the Austrian coach was asked for his view compared to the summer window.

“First of all, I enjoy that it’s just one month, and not three like the summer,” he said. “The summer was terrible for me because now you have to get your deals done or not. In the summer, it’s always waiting and waiting for all the parties to agree.

“It’s not easy in the summer, it’s not easy in the winter. I still feel the market goes crazy sometimes. Sometimes, prices are not realistic, but you can’t complain about them because this is how the market is.

“You can talk about the stock markets – if Trump gets elected, the stocks may go up, and all of a sudden, they all go down. It’s the same with football prices. Sometimes they are so high, and you question why, and sometimes you find another player that is good value.

“This is what we are looking for – we are looking for Crystal Palace players. So, to be clear, we won’t sign Marcus Rashford. We can’t and won’t, but we are looking for players who fit into our system. Who fit into the way we are playing, who fit with us in terms of their character and personality.

“Also, they need to fit into the structure. So, we won’t sign a 35-year-old player. But we’ve found our targets already, so it’s now about getting those deals done.”
