Will Nightingale: Red-hot AFC Wimbledon still have room for improvement
BY KAI BENNETT
Will Nightingale says AFC Wimbledon have room for improvement despite their red-hot form continuing on Saturday.
The Dons thrashed Swindon Town 4-1 at Plough Lane to chalk up a third consecutive victory as they roar away from the wrong end of the table.
And centre-back Nightingale headed home for the second match in succession as Wimbledon moved five points clear of the dropzone.
Speaking to the club website, Nightingale said: “It’s brilliant. We’re just taking it game by game. All we’re doing is concentrating on the next game. We know how good we can be, but we know we can be even better than what we’ve shown as well. That’s another brilliant positive.
“We have just got to keep stepping up and keep improving.”
Nightingale praised team-mate Joe Pigott, whose double moved him on to 51 career goals for the Dons.
“The pressure was taken off by [Joe Pigott, scoring the first]. He has [now] scored 50 goals for the club, which is an unbelievable achievement, in the short space of time he has been here.
“I actually missed a good chance in the first couple of minutes.
“I want to start adding that to my game [scoring]. I believe I can, so I’ve just got to go again. I want to try and get three goals in three games now.”
