Wimbledon’s EFL Trophy group confirmed
AFC Wimbledon will play Wycombe Wanderers, Stevenage and Crystal Palace’s U21 side in the EFL Trophy group stages next season.
Wimbledon topped Group J last season, finishing above Portsmouth, Crawley and Aston Villa’s U21 side.
But Johnnie Jackson’s Dons were also knocked out by Plymouth in the third round after a 4-3 defeat on penalties following a 3-3 draw in normal time.
The Dons played Palace’s U21 side in the 2021-22 season, with goals from Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and Rob Street giving the Eagles all three points.
Stevenage, who won promotion from the fourth tier, picked up six points against Wimbledon last season in League Two, winning 3-2 at Plough Lane and 2-1 at home in late April.
Wycombe finished ninth in League One last season.
