Women’s football round-up: Crystal Palace aim to extend perfect start at Birmingham City

Crystal Palace will look to maintain their hold on top spot of the FA Women’s Championship as they head to Birmingham City on Sunday.

The Eagles have made a 100 per cent start to the new campaign and Dean Davenport’s side are yet to concede.

Palace won 3-0 at home against Coventry United before the international break with Annabel Blanchard, who scored and assisted in the fixture, being voted the Championship’s Player of the Week.

Birmingham were one of the founding members of the Super League but were relegated from the top flight last season.

The Midlands outfit opened with a home stalemate against Lewes but stormed to a 4-0 victory over Sunderland last time out.

Charlton aim to get back to winning ways at Coventry United.

Karen Hills’ team lost 4-3 to London City Lionesses but will be strong favourites this weekend.

The West Midlands hosts have recorded back-to-back defeats without scoring.

AFC Wimbledon are away to Cheltenham Town in the FA Women’s Cup on Sunday.

Ashlee Hincks scored a hat-trick for the Dons as they beat Ashford Town 4-1 a week ago in WPL Division One. Remmi Gardner marked her debut with a goal.

Millwall Lionesses claimed a 3-1 victory in the London & South-East Regional League against Enfield Town. Jade Keogh, Kaydence Kabadaki and Otesha Charles were on the scoresheet.

Lionesses boss Jack Wheeler said: “It was our most complete performance so far this season, which is really pleasing to see.

“We are starting to see the team dynamics and link up play getting better every week.

“We have a very good group that take pride on never giving up. Hopefully we can use this run to build some momentum over the coming weeks.”
