‘You’ll have to wait and see’ – Charlton boss Jacko on showing ‘respect’ in EFL Trophy
Johnnie Jackson feels he has “respected” the EFL Trophy as Charlton Athletic look to seal their semi-final place on Tuesday.
The Addicks head to Hartlepool on Tuesday night in a last-eight encounter.
Jackson – when asked if he would go with an even stronger line-up in that tournament due to a Wembley showpiece being in sight – responded: “You’ll have to wait and see.
“I feel like I’ve respected that competition all the way. I’ve made changes but every team I’ve put out on that pitch I’ve expected them to win the game. And, barring the Leyton Orient game, they have.
“We were already through in that game, so it was a younger team. But since it’s gone knockout I’ve shown that competition every respect. I’ve taken it very seriously.
“We’re in the quarter finals now, so I’m not going to get to the quarter finals and change my direction of thought when that game comes around – that’s for sure.”
