Young Dons go for it – AFC Wimbledon battle to 1-0 EFL Cup victory to prolong Charlton’s knock-out misery

Charlton’s long record of cup failure extended further tonight when they were knocked out of the EFL Cup by near neighbours AFC Wimbledon.

A goal from defender Paul Osew was enough to give the Dons victory and earn them a second straight victory at the start of a promising-looking campaign.

Addicks boss Nigel Adkins changed half his side after the opening day 0-0 home draw with Sheffield Wednesday but his standbys did not do enough to impress or demand selection for Saturday’s League One trip to Oxford United.
