Zian Flemming ‘can’t wait’ for Millwall’s play-off D-day against Blackburn Rovers
Zian Flemming says he cannot wait for Millwall’s Championship play-off D-day against Blackburn Rovers.
The Lions are fifth in the table after Friday night’s 3-2 win at Blackpool.
Dutchman Flemming was the matchwinner for Gary Rowett’s side with a 75th-minute penalty.
Blackpool, whose relegation fate was sealed by the reverse, twice fought back from Tom Bradshaw goals.
But Millwall prevailed to put pressure on their rivals for a top-six finish. Coventry City are at home to Birmingham City while Sunderland host Watford.
Flemming took on penalty duties with normal taker Andreas Voglsammer on the bench.
“There was some pressure on it, yeah,” the Lions’ number 10 told Sky Sports. “I was just thinking hit the back of the net and then it can still be our season.
“If we didn’t win we expected to be out of the play-offs, so it was almost do-or-die. We did it.
“When you have a bit of a s*** record (in terms of recent form) then you sometimes have a chat to see where we can improve things. It’s not like massive changes but we had a little chat – everyone is on the same line again and you can see that on the pitch. We were really working as a team everywhere on the pitch. Maybe in recent games we were a bit in doubt and the spaces became too big.”
Millwall’s match against Blackburn is already a sellout.
“I think the fans saw this coming and we expect nothing else than a cracking Den,” said Flemming. “Sometimes people say we’ve got five finals left – or three or two. This last game you can really see as a final. We’ll be at it and the fans will be at it.
“It’s 10 days away, a bit too long really. I can’t wait.”
