Zian Flemming has an ‘aura’ – Millwall record signing happy to take ‘cursed’ dressing room spot
Shaun Hutchinson has talked about the “aura” that Zian Flemming gives off – as well as revealing Millwall’s club record signing was happy to use a ‘cursed’ area of the dressing room.
The former Fortuna Sittard number 10, dubbed ‘The Bermondsey Bergkamp’ by the club’s fans, has scored 15 goals this season including a vital penalty to secure a 3-2 win at Blackpool last time out.
The Lions paid £1.7million to acquire Flemming, whose value has significantly risen after settling impressively into English football.
Millwall captain Hutchinson said: “I’ve never seen a foreign lad come into the league and settle as well as him. He’s got this aura about him of confidence and that gives the rest of the team confidence.
“Even a little story for you, the first time he walked into the dressing room we went ‘oh, I wouldn’t sit by that peg mate – it’s cursed. The past three players haven’t performed and they’ve been moved on’. He went: ‘yeah, okay, no problem – I’ll change that’.
“Straight away he came in with that confidence. When you step out on the pitch and you need players to step up, you know he is with you and he is going to turn up and produce something. He’s adapted like I’ve never seen before, even off the pitch.
“He’s bought into it. Even his knowledge of League One, Championship and Prem players – he lives, sleeps and eats football.”
