Swimming: Lewisham Primary School Gala is a big success
More than 170 swimmers from 17 of the borough’s primary schools arrived at Glass Mill Leisure Centre last week to compete in this year’s Lewisham Primary School Gala.
The event was organised by Saxon Crown Swimming Club, funded by Lewisham Council and supported by GLL, who provided pool space and staff free of charge.
Saxon Crown wishes to thank all school swimmers and their teachers who helped make it such a wonderful afternoon of swimming.
All swimmers and teams gave excellent accounts of themselves, not just in their swimming performance but the support they gave their team-mates and the applause for children from other school teams.
Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded to those who placed first, second and third places in each event.
Best girl trophies were presented to Lily Babuccu of Gordonbrock (Year 5) and Sia Kenton of St Bartholomew’s (Year 6) and best boy trophies went to Mack Atanda of Sandhurst (Year 5) and Ayotunde Dauda of St Dunstan’s (Year 6), presented by Heilco van der Ploeg, chair of Saxon Crown Swimming Club.
St Dunstan’s won the shield for best school.
