Thomas Sandgaard answers whether he would be ready to bring other investors into Charlton deal
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Thomas Sandgaard has admitted he would be willing to consider outside investment to speed Charlton Athletic’s climb back to the Premier League.
The Colorado-based Dane, 62, is hoping his takeover of the League One club can happen early next week. And Sandgaard is not ruling out allowing Andrew Barclay and Andrew Muir, who have both tried to buy the Addicks, to come on board.
He said: “Depending how fast we get some success and movement on Charlton, I might need more investment to get us to the best league.
“It could be that I definitely entertain outside investment from those kind of people. From what I can tell they are really good people, easy to work with.”
Barclay recently dropped out of attempting to strike a deal for Charlton. Australian Muir had no desire to front a bid for Charlton in the summer of 2018 but wanted to be part of a consortium of wealthy businessman who invested.
“I already have a good relationship with Andrew Barclay,” said Sandgaard. “With Andrew Muir, we’ll probably be meeting for a cup of coffee the next time I’m in London.”
Sandgaard knows Palace chairman Steve Parish.
He said: “I can tell he’s a little sceptical I can tidy this mess up, but we’ll get it done.
“I speak to Steve all the time. He’s already offered up a lot of good advice.”
