Triple injury blow for Millwall as key players to sit out Leicester City tie in FA Cup third round

Brooke Norton-Cuffy, Murray Wallace and Shaun Hutchinson will all miss Millwall’s FA Cup tie against Leicester City tomorrow due to injuries.

Lions club captain Hutchinson scored the winner at Bristol City on New Year’s Day but sit the visit of the Foxes out due to a calf problem.

Wallace (groin) and Arsenal loanee Norton-Cuffy (knee) will also not be availble for selection.

Wes Harding trained on Thursday after missing some of the Christmas matches with a hamstring strain.

“Shaun, Murray and Brooke will all be out of the Leicester game,” said Millwall head coach Joe Edwards. “I think they will be out for a couple of weeks.

“Out of the three of those, Hutchy’s is likely to be a little longer than Murray and Brooke. I don’t think any of them are overly serious.

“It’s the cost of the fixture pile-up – it just caught up with us. What is quite telling is they all finished the game, none of them came off through injury. Although Brooke came off it was just a substitution that I thought he looked a little bit tired and Danny Mac could come on and freshen things up for us.

“Hutch and Murray finished the game. It gives you a bit of a telltale what those injuries are – they weren’t on the pitch and feeling like they had an actual problem which forced them off in the game.

“They walked in the dressing room feeling fine but then the next day it comes at a cost and they are out.

“It’s a shame, particularly for Hutch with the way he performed and got the goal at the end. It looked like it would be a good chance for him to start building some momentum.

“Murray was excellent as well in that game and the Norwich one.

“It gives others in the squad an opportunity.”
