What’s On: SAMPLE Christmas – A two-day family friendly shopping experience

SAMPLE Christmas, A two-day family friendly shopping experience will begin on the Greenwich Peninsula on December 6-7.

SAMPLE Christmas brings a flourish of gift ideas from the brightest talents in fashion, design, homewares and food plus workshops, seasonal entertainment and much more.

You can visit 100 designer-makers and explore an extensive programme of live music, street theatre and family-friendly festivities along London’s new elevated linear park, The Tide, created by the co-designers of New York City’s High Line, Diller Scofidio + Renfro  in collaboration with London-based Neiheiser Argyros.

Visitors will be greeted by the Powerhouse Gospel Choir, as they stroll through a bold rainbow arch created by jewellery designers and then can relax with roast marshmallows and chestnuts, while sipping mulled wine at the fire pits.

You can join in some winter curling, bounce around in giant snow globes, test your skills with a giant buzz wire, or dance yourself dizzy with disco bingo, name that tune, a lip sync competition and a festive dance-off as snow gently falls all around and brings the riverfront to life.

Dotted along The Tide, handpicked traders from across the capital and beyond provide festive sparkle with gift ideas and beautiful designs.

Families can get crafty with a range of workshops offering everything from personalised gifts to decorations.

New eateries surrounding The Tide will host live performances from artists such as Sophia Thakur, a popular figure in UK performance poetry, and Anthony Anaxagorou, who is a poetry educator and fiction writer.
