Sidcup Library has been closed until further notice after a staff member was in close contact with someone who subsequently tested positive for Covid-19, the local authority has confirmed.
Bexley council announced on Friday the library will be closed until further notice as staff self-isolate.
“While the usual staff will not be available for two weeks, we are working to temporarily move staff from other libraries, so that Sidcup Library can open on selected days during this period,” the authority said.
The move may have a knock-on effect with other libraries in the borough, with the authority adding that opening times of other buildings may be impacted as staff are switched around.
The council asked that residents check the Bexley libraries website for any updates before visiting.
It comes as Bexley’s total number of coronavirus cases recorded since the start of the pandemic hits 1,441 according to new figures from Public Health England on Monday.
Neighbouring Bromley has hit 2,016 total cases, after reaching 1000 cases on May 4, while the borough of Greenwich has a total of 1,417.
