Macauley Bonne reveals the two players who helped him most during Charlton Athletic stay

Macauley Bonne has revealed that Darren Pratley and Jason Pearce were two of the biggest helps during his Charlton career.

The striker recently made a £2million move to QPR.

Asked who he learned the most off during his stay in SE7, Bonne said: “It’s a no-brainer that it wa the likes of Lee Bowyer and Johnnie Jackson – but also having such experienced players as Darren Pratley and Jason Pearce was huge.

“They are experienced heads who have been around and seen players like me come up [from non-league football]. I was on the phone to Pearcey last night [Tuesday] for a good hour, just having a catch up.

“They are two of the nicest guys I’ve met in football. And they’ve been in my position when it comes to moving clubs, they could give me advice.

“Pearcey is a no-nonsense defender. I used to love playing against him in training. We’d have a tear up for an hour and a half. He trains like he plays and I love that – it got me ready for game day.

“Prats knows the ins and outs of transfers. Maturity wise they helped me mature as a player.”
