A new £5.3 million community centre in New Addington has been completed.

The Timebridge Centre in Fieldway will combine the Fieldway Family Centre and the Timebridge Community Centre.

It will also house a food bank, the Learning Tree nursery, a youth and family hub and community cafe.

A multi-purpose hall, two studio spaces, conference and meeting rooms will be available to hire as well as social areas and workspaces.

The 161,000 square foot, two-storey building was built in modules offsite, by the McAvoy Group, which were then lifted into place in New Addington.

Councillor Simon Hall, New Addington North representative, said: “[This is] an outstanding new building that will serve the local community in Croydon for many years to come.”

While project manager Gavin Ward described the new building as a “focal point for New Addington”.

He added: “We’re very pleased to have been able to complete the new building on schedule, despite the site, supply chain and workforce challenges created by the pandemic.”

The new centre is part of a Croydon Council-funded regeneration of the area which last year saw a new leisure centre opened in New Addington.
