Neil Bromley praises Bromley players as they defeat Solihull Moors to fire up promotion hopes

BY KAI BENNETT

Bromley manager Neil Smith was delighted with his players after they beat Solihull Moors on Saturday afternoon. Joseph Kizzi scored the only goal of the game, in the 78th minute, as Bromley ran out 1-0 winners.
The result moves Bromley up to seventh in the National League.
“We were knocking on the door a couple of times and we deserved that win in the end,” said Smith. “I’m delighted with the defenders, the keepers, the midfield and and our forwards for keeping that clean sheet.
“I’m trying to think how many saves Cousins has had to make – full credit to all the defenders. Bushy has had to come in, he’s had four games out and the defenders have done well, unfortunately for Jack he gets injured but he comes straight back in and thoroughly deserved the starting call.
“That’s what we’re going to have now, people are going to come in and out, there are going to be little niggles, It’s about taking your opportunity when you get it.”
Neil Smith had plenty of praise for striker Courtney Duffus.
“We were just saying maybe the tape that was around his head stopped his vision a bit, it was a little bit tight, I’m giving him an excuse. His work ethic was amazing, since he’s come in all he’s done is give this club and the team 100 per cent and that’s all I ask for. The goals will come, I don’t doubt that, but his work ethic with his strike partner Cheek is phenomenal and credit also to Kizzi, he was outstanding today and scored the goal as well.
“Hopefully we’re learning from the mistakes we made early on in the season but I’d love to get that second goal so we don’t have to be holding on in every game. But I said to the boys I want to start building on clean sheets and today they did exactly that.”
Smith is looking forward to facing Sutton United in their next game.
“They are the team everyone wants to beat, everyone thought they may drop away = they’ve managed to keep the same 12 to 13 players going all season and they haven’t had any hiccups in terms of injuries. If you’re waiting for them to falter they won’t, the manager they’ve got and the coaching staff and the players, they’re going to start believing.
“It’s going to be a tough game. We played well against them when we played them at their place, probably switched off for five or 10 minutes towards the end of the game. It’s a cracking game for us to play here and I can’t wait.”
