Mayoral candidates Sadiq Khan and Shaun Bailey to join live discussion ahead of elections
The BBC is hosting a live discussion with Labour candidate Sadiq Khan and Conservative candidate Shaun Bailey ahead of the mayoral elections.
The discussion will be hosted by Tim Donovan, Political Editor for BBC London News from New Broadcasting House in London today.
It’s set to be held during the 6:30pm programme and kicks starts BBC London’s coverage of all the candidates standing, which will take place over the coming weeks.
On May 6th Londoners will head to the polls to choose a new Mayor and 25 London Assembly members.
BBC coverage of all the candidates begins on Wednesday when Labour candidate Sadiq Khan and Conservative candidate Shaun Bailey will come together for the first time to discuss what really matters to Londoners.
Key talking points will cover areas that fall under the London Mayor’s remit such as the economy, transport, housing, crime and policing.
It will be televised live in the UK on BBC One and streamed on the BBC News website, where viewers can also follow the latest reaction and analysis on our live page.
More than six million people are registered to vote in the capital with the mayoral election normally taking place every four years.
This election was originally meant to take place in May 2020 but it was postponed due to the pandemic.
The programme will be available on BBC iPlayer for 24 hours afterwards as well as on their YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.
