East Dulwich student joins Amazon apprenticeship scheme after receiving high A Level results

A student at an East Dulwich Sixth Form has secured a place on an engineering apprenticeship with Amazon after getting top A Level results.

Adrian Porteros Rubio, who attended Harris Boys’ Academy East Dulwich, received an A in both Maths and Physics and a B in Spanish.

He also achieved a Distinction* in IT.

Adrian said: “I am happy to have finished my A-Levels with great results with the next step being a mechatronics Engineer Apprentice at Amazon. 

“I would love to thank all my teachers for their support throughout the past seven years at Harris Boys’ Academy East Dulwich and to my family for being there at all times.”

Students from both Harris Boys’ Academy and Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich have received results that will help them go on to the next stage in their lives.

Fernando Gonzalez Ojeda will be joining KPMG to begin his apprenticeship after securing A, A, B, B in Physics, History, Economics and Spanish.    

Another student beginning an exciting new journey is Lexi Lloyd-Smith, who will be heading to the University of Alabama after receiving a football scholarship. 

Lexi achieved double Distinction* in her Sport Diploma and a Distinction in her CTEC Business.  

Other students from the academy are off to some of the UK’s top universities.

This includes Yussuf Seidi who will be studying Physics with Astrophysics and Cosmology at Kings College London University after securing A, B, C in Physics, History and Maths.

Yesim Tasdemi, who studied at Harris Academy Girls’ East Dulwich will be heading to King’s College London after receiving A, A, A in Maths, Biology and Chemistry. 

She is the first student from the academy with a place to study medicine. 

Peter Groves, Principal at Harris Boys’ Academy East Dulwich, said: “We want to wish a huge congratulations to all our students on their fantastic results today.  We are hugely proud of them all and have full confidence that they will all continue to achieve great things.

“Despite all the challenges thrown at them, they have shone brightly. We wish them all the best of luck as they embark on the next exciting chapter of their lives.”
