Millwall squad resume pre-season today – but one player gets mid-July return date

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Nearly all of Millwall’s squad report back for pre-season training today – but James Meredith is excused club duty until the middle of July.

The left-back is away on international duty with Australia at the World Cup.

The Socceroos have to beat Peru on Tuesday to stand any chance of qualifying out of Group C.

Centre-back Sid Nelson, who suffered ankle damage on loan at Chesterfield at the end of last season, will also not be in full training.

“Sid won’t train with the group,” said Lions boss Neil Harris. “He’ll still be running on his own.

“But he won’t be too far behind. Everybody else is fit and ready – ready to run and to train.

“James Meredith will be joining us in the middle of July due to his World Cup exploits.

“Apart from that it is a fully fit squad. Everyone is coming back excited, ready and raring to go.”
