Charlton Athletic will be number one choice for Chelsea ace – if he ends up in League One
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Lee Bowyer reckons that Charlton will be the only League One destination for Jay Dasilva if he does end up not landing a Championship loan.
The 20-year-old left-back spent last season on loan with the Addicks from Chelsea and won the club’s Player of the Year award.
England under-20 international Dasilva has been linked with Derby and Brentford this summer.
“I’d love to have little Jay back because he has been unreal for me,” said Addicks caretaker boss Bowyer. “I think he goes to the Championship but if he comes back to League One, then for sure he comes back to us.”
Charlton’s first League One game of the season is a televised early kick-off against Sunderland, who have suffered back-to-back relegations, on August 4.
“It is two teams that are pushing for promotion,” said Bowyer. “Well, I know we will be. I don’t know what they are going to be this season, it is going to be different to what they have just played in – the Championship.
“To play against us in the first game isn’t going to be easy for them. We want to set our stall out early so people know what to expect.”
