Bouncer at Westminster club assaulted after refusing group of men entry

Police have released an image of a man they would like to speak to after a member security of security staff at a West London club was punched in the face twice – meaning he could lose sight in one eye.

Police were called at around 1.30am on Monday, December 20 to a report that a member of security staff working at Wyld Club, Hertford Street, had been assaulted.

He reported that at around 01.15am , a group of men approached the front door to the club and were refused entry as a result of a previous, unrelated incident.

The men then asked the victim to walk away from the venue and discuss the issue outside, which he agreed to do.

Although the discussion was initially peaceful, one of the group then suddenly punched the victim twice in the face, causing him to fall to the floor.

The attack left him with serious facial injuries which may mean he will lose sight in one eye.

Detective Constable Ryan Wilson, who is investigating the attack, said: “This was a cowardly attack on a member of security staff who has been left with a significant injury that could have an impact on the rest of his life.

“No-one should expect to be subject to this kind of assault for simply doing their job. It is completely unacceptable and we are now putting all of our efforts into finding the individual responsible for this attack.

“We are very keen to speak to the man in this image – it is a very clear photograph and we are confident that someone will recognise him and be able to provide us with his details.

“Any information will be treated in strict confidence.”

Anyone who recognises the man or who has further details on the incident should contact police on 101 or tweet @MetCC with reference CAD383/20Dec. You can also provide information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
