Millwall’s star attacker still a major doubt for Crystal Palace FA Cup tie
Millwall winger Jed Wallace is a major doubt to feature in Saturday’s FA Cup third round tie against Crystal Palace.
The 27-year-old has missed the last two Championship matches with a quad injury. His last appearance was the 2-1 loss at Peterborough on December 11.
The Lions look like they should have their midfield options boosted with Ben Thompson and Maikel Kieftenbeld both expected to be available for the visit of the Eagles.
But Wallace, so often their attacking inspiration, would be a big miss.
“Jed still hasn’t trained yet,” said Millwall manager Gary Rowett. “I think he’s been ill the early part of the week. I hoped he’d be available because that would lead him into the Forest match quite nicely. But at the moment it looks like he’s not going to train very much at all before the [Palace] game.
“Connor [Mahoney] might not be a million miles away but he had not trained much. Thommo will be available, he’s back training.
“Kief should be back training, I think his isolation period finished around the same time as the Bristol game.”
Mason Bennett, who started in the 1-0 win at Coventry last week, sat out Sunday’s defeat at Bristol City.
“I’d hope that he would be back,” said Rowett. “I haven’t had any news yet on where he is at. We saw him after the game because he was in the hotel the previous evening and stayed there when we travelled the last little bit to Bristol. We went back to pick our cars up and he felt a little bit better.
“We’ll assess him and again it will be how much training we can get into him before the weekend. If he is able to train then there is a good chance he’ll be able to feature.”
